Hands-on coding, magnetic-tile engineering, design challenges, and our famous Design Bar — built for Pre-K through 8th grade (older groups welcome) and run by educators who do this every day.

An Off-Site Day Your Students Will Remember
We host your class at our purpose-built STEM studios. Students rotate through hands-on stations — coding robots, magnetic-tile engineering, the Design Bar and creative challenges — guided by our educator team. You bring the students (and optional lunch); we bring everything else, and we're happy to tailor the day to your class.
Field trips are hosted at Genius Gems — your group visits us; we don't travel to schools, camps or organizations.
Whole classes come to build. Yours can too.
What students actually do
Every group rotates through these stations. Challenges scale by grade, and we're happy to tailor the day to your class.
Code real robots — Students program robots matched to their age — Sphero rolling robots for older groups, Indi and other line-following robots for younger ones — making them roll, spin, light up and follow a course they designed.
Magnetic-tile engineering — Everyone builds. Students learn what makes a 3D structure stable and then take on a build challenge — bridges, towers, walls — scaled to their skill level.
Make a Glitter Tile to take home — At the Design Bar every student designs their own Glitter Tile and takes it home — a keepsake from the day.
See how a product gets made — We demonstrate how our laser-cut Glitter Tiles are designed and produced in-house — a real look at product design, from idea to prototype to finished product.
Why Schools Choose Genius Gems
Curriculum-aligned, low chaperone lift, and genuinely fun.
Hands-On Every Minute — Zero passive time — every student is building, programming, or designing.
Easy to chaperone — Our staff introduce and run every rotation on a tight schedule. Chaperones supervise their groups and help facilitate where needed — the structure does the heavy lifting.
Grade-Aligned Stations — Each station scales by grade band so Pre-K and 8th both walk away challenged.
Safe & Inclusive — Background-checked staff, allergy-aware spaces, and small rotation groups.
Real STEM, Not Screens — Hands-on coding, magnetic tiles, and design challenges — minimal screen time.
Title I Friendly — Special pricing for Title I schools so cost doesn't keep a class from coming.

Frequently Asked Questions
What grades do you serve?
Pre-K through 8th grade is our core, and each station is scaled by grade band so the work fits the age. We've hosted high-school groups too — email us and we'll tailor the rotations.
How many students can you host at once?
Field trips start at 15 students. Typically up to 36 students per visit in Millburn and up to 64 in NYC, split into smaller rotation groups. We regularly host larger groups — tell us your headcount and we'll plan the day around it.
Is a field trip a private reservation?
No. Other school groups, camp groups or general-admission visitors may share the space on the same day. Your group rotates through its own stations with our staff throughout.
Can we come on a weekend or a holiday?
Field trips run on weekdays only. For a weekend group visit, email information@geniusgems.com — weekend visits are general admission, with a ticket for every person including adults.
Do we need to bring lunch?
For the 120-minute trip, yes — schools pack and bring their own lunch. Our cafe is open for coffee, drinks and grab-and-go snacks at both locations; NYC also serves pizza and ice cream.
What about allergies?
Our spaces are nut-aware. Share allergy info at booking and our staff will keep the relevant stations and snacks clear.
Is there Title I pricing?
For NYC field trips, yes — Title I schools qualify for our discounted per-student rate; select Title I at checkout.
What do chaperones need to do?
Supervise. Our staff introduce and lead every activity, but chaperones stay with their groups and help facilitate where needed — handing out materials, keeping builders on task, walking rotations. We ask for at least one adult per 8 students; chaperones are free.
How do we pay?
Whatever works for your school: 1) pay in full by card, 2) book with a 20% deposit and settle the balance by check or cash on or before your trip, or 3) for NYC schools, book with a purchase order and we'll invoice — NYC DOE schools can pay through FAMIS. A 3% processing fee applies only to online card payments; checks and cash carry no fee. Booking confirms your date.
